Having an idea for an invention or design is usually the first step in a long process of design concepts, renders and manufacturing. Getting started on your idea may be tempting, especially if you have been thinking about it for a long time and if you have some experience as an inventor or designer. But is it a good idea to go to a design consultant straight away?
Much of this is going to depend on how much help you need with concepts and initial ideas. If your idea is quite set in stone, perhaps you will be happy to go straight to a product designer. They can help you with initial drawings and deciding on how to bring your product to market. This isn’t a bad option if you have a less clear-cut idea either- designers are ideas people too. Just be aware that costs for their time and services will be higher.
